With all of talk about Kanye West’s fans “discovering” Paul McCartney, I want to this post to discuss McCartney. He’s obviously been very successful, accounting for over 100 million records sold between the Beatles and his solo ventures. He started playing around on piano and guitar very early, amassing the massive amount of dedicated practice to be successful at anything; it was those many hours that he got invited to join the Beatles. The Beatles honed their talent and their unique sound through all night performances over two years from 1960-1962, finally reaching stardom in 1963. By the time he wrote “Yesterday” in 1965, he had undoubtedly put in thousands of hours, if not ten thousand, into his craft, reaching the level of mastery to write the hit song. It was a long process that McCartney went through, from his childhood experimentation, to meeting John Lennon, to the Beatles club sessions, to touring the United States. Staying relevant from the 1960’s to working with Kanye West in this decade, he has certainty put together a legendary career.
