This month, I set out to learn the psychology of emailing and apply it to my life, with the goal of furthering both my personal and professional goals. I set out to study course materials, which I completed, and send out 10 cold emails, which I did not. However, the emails I did send out taught me a lot.
Here are a few of my wins:
- I sent a (somewhat) cold LinkedIn message on behalf of a friend, which led to a new business opportunity for him
- I sent multiple cold emails to partner teams at work, which led to information I passed along to stakeholders
- I sent a cold email to an old acquaintance, which led to a positive reception and a potential reconnection
Here are some learnings:
- Cold emails will have a low response rate but have massive value when landing at the right place at the right time
- Keeping the message short and to the point is ideal (clear Call to Action)
- Following up multiple times is okay and helps with landing a response
On to March.
